MY FIRST LAB THIS YEAR

In science class today we had our first lab this year. In the lab we got a teaspoon of corn starch and mixed it in with half-cup of water in a baggie. Next we compressed the air out of the baggie and sealed it. Then we filled a cup of water half way and mixed in iodine (WARNING-IODINE IS POISENES IF YOU INGEST IT). Then you put the baggie in the iodine water and wait fifteen minutes. After the fifteen minutes the starch in the bag turned pink. My teacher said if you wait a couple of ours the starch would turn dark purple. The reason the starch changes color in because the iodine is able to permeable through the baggie and when doing that it leaves from a high concentration to a low concentration. So, that’s what we did in science class today.
